LA hotspots and neighborhoods for actors

The words “actor” and “Los Angeles” have always been a great fit for each other, because where else is a whole entertainment industry built around but in this fabulous city? More than those overpriced clubs and bars where paparazzi and Hollywood A-listers can be found, here are some places in LA where aspiring actors might want to hang out in.

First, networking. Acting classes and workshops abound in LA, and they’re a great venue to meet and work with other actors while improving one’s craft. Reputable institutions such as the New York Film Academy are worth exploring with its well-reputed teachers and course of study that will take one in the right direction.

Different organizations also put on so many pre-scheduled networking events meant to connect industry professionals with those who want to penetrate the entertainment field. Apart from these, there are also local Facebook groups, alumni groups, and union webpages including the Screen Actors Guild.

Next up, actor hot spots in the big city. Arclight Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard attracts lively crowds of any movie theater in LA at any given day. Theater Row on Santa Monica Boulevard, on the other hand, has a bunch of theaters arranged in a neat row, and it’s pretty much the only place in the city where one can attend a workshop, nail an audition, see a play, and get dinner without having to move one’s car.

There are also affordable residential neighborhoods to explore, saving the aspiring actor money, time, and energy for audition preps. Los Feliz is best traveled on foot, and it features a range of movie houses, dive bars, and independent stores. Silver Lake might as well be the hippest of them all, with its indie cafés and stores, diverse dining destinations, and young people flocking to get in on the action. Eagle Rock is home to young bohemians alongside longtime residents, and its lineup of antique shops are friendly to the working actor.
